Monotype
A monotype is a print pulled in an
edition of one, from a painting made on a sheet of metal or
plexiglass and then passed through the etching press. In some cases, it
is possible to run the plate again, and get a "ghost"
image. A ghost has a softer line, less detail and more diffuse
color. Monotype is an immediate technique unlike many other
printmaking processes, but one has to remember that the image will
appear in reverse!
